Scattered,
Lasting Remnants by Echo Klaproth
The
idea for Scattered, Lasting Remnants originated with two
words taken from the 18th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in
Elko, Nevada, January 2002, and a session titled: "Fine Lines."
Scattered,
Lasting Remnants is a compilation of "fine lines" that have
been penned somewhere in the heart of the West by modern-day cowboys,
poets, and songwriters. All of the lines speak to the heart and
soul of a lifestyle that has been on the endangered species list
for more than a century. Despite that consideration, the lines
in the book are from "stories and the songs which continue to
define us as a people and bind us together in a culture."
Collectively,
the voices include words inherited from ancestors and attempts
to imitate the classics. They reflect the voices from the past
that, through the pen, articulate the present and point to the
future. You will be moved by the power in these simple excerpts
from the work of well-known poets and songwriters.
